Re: Desert Eye (closed)
I know that 3.06 is out, but current reports make it sound like it's not working properly on linux. Since the server is a linux box, this may cause update problems. I will investigate when I get a chance, but for the moment the server is still at 3.04.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
OK, it looks like the linux problems reported thus far won't be an issue for my server. Unless someone objects, I'll patch immediately after the current turn hosts (so this turn 3.04, next turn 3.06). This patch has a boost for devils, so it should help those of you with bloody hands...

Argh - it looks like the squids did their turn with 3.06, which brought the server crashing down. R'lyeh, please resubmit your turn with 3.04.

OK, force-hosted and patched. I see we've lost R'yleh, so it's down to three.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Now it's between Jotun and Caelem.
2 Air Queens meet some devils in the first major battle.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Well, it's over rather quickly, with the Jotun prevailing. Below is part of my email reply to Caelem after he conceded:
"I had a number of lucky breaks during the game, which probably made the difference, since I thought you were a bit ahead earlier when you had Gift of Nature's Bounty up plus a substantial research lead..
1) My first 2 globals (both put up without extra gems) stayed up when your own were being displaced by Abysia. I had both much longer than I could have reasonably hoped for, while the benefits you got from your own were abruptly terminated.
2) I found two of the best Blood sites very early in the game. One allowed me to summon a free devil per turn with a blood mage and the other was the very best Blood site, the one that gives the 40% bonus. With all devils and demons coming at roughly half price, I was able to produce large quantities of quality troops that could stand up to and defeat your SC's and squads of High Seraphs, something Abysia never managed. I've never had a game before where I was able to build so many of the best Blood mages and units. I think this 40% site almost guarantees a win for any blood nation that finds it as early as I did in this game. It might be better in terms of play ba;ance to reduce that bonus to something more like 20%.
Too bad the good luck was not more evenly distributed, as I was really impressed by your handling of Caelem during this game and ended up very happy being on your side until near the very end, when my own advantages could be maximized."
So is our group up for another game?
I can't think of a better way of hosting than to ask if ajr is willing to setup game #3.
Perhaps Late Era this time?
What do the others think?

I apologize for taking so long to reply to this; this last week has been the "everything is due" week at work for me. Now that that's over, I'd be up for another game, and I'm willing to host again with one caveat - there's a small but nonzero chance that I'll be moving before the game ends, in which case I'd have to hand off the files to someone else. So, anyone else who hasn't replied yet interested?
