Finally found the 'Joy of Modding' that everyone is so pumped about. I have done AI's and the odd minor modd (the Mount Mod) but I finally dived in and have started a Full Mod. Yes it IS addictive

(modding that is, hopefully the modd itself will be as well) . The modd is still under construction.
Question for 'Real' modders: Is there any way for a ship to generate Research points?? I tried making a component similar to the Robo-Miners and it did'nt work. And I don't see how I can add it to the ship skeleton itself...can it be done??
The modd stuff so far: TONNES of new weapons for all classes (Gatling guns, Gauss Cannons, Asteroid Slings, Chaos Weapons, Fighter Missiles, Heavy APB's and Meason BLasters, new Torpedos....just to name a few). Complete overhaul of the current missile system (rate of fire of 2, new short range missiles, external missiles, shield and armor skipping missiles, Tachyon missiles.) New ship sizes from 120kt to 5000kt including a Flagship and Prospector ship. Hardened Shields and better regenerators.
Etc, etc, etc. Anyway, I have tried to make this as AI friendly as possible, meaning none or little patching to current AI's (and for people who use the 9999 setting for AI's they will have some of the new tech). That and different weapons have different chances to hit, new mounts, new armor, Expanded Religious tech including weapons (Faith Lance), etc.
I am mostly doing this for my own interest (and to see what I can come up with) but is anyone else interested in any of this?? I have also tried to stay away from 'stealing' from other modds, the Last modd I really played was Dave's Mod (before it was incorporated into the Devnull mod) and I glanced at P&N (quite nice btw from what little I played).
