Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
Just finished Wolf.
Over all the game was ok.
Good AI
Sounds fantastic.
I am now packing it up and adding it to the christmas presents I am giving to my nephew. (I already told him that I would give it to him when I was finished.)
Good game for an eight year old.

Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
Mac I have all 4 Steel Panther games. I purchase the first 3 over the years. ( I think I have 2 copies of the first two games ) and the 4th game is free from Matrix. I am a collector of computer war games. I like the manuals and maps.
You should check it out. I highly recommend reading the manual. The game can be quite difficult. If you ever start playing it and enjoy it. Perhaps we can play a game or two.
I just downloaded Pacific war.

Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
Tesco, Great, I always enjoy a good game, also I have the original PacWar by Grigsby with the old patch, haven't downloaded the newer Version from the site yet, I did enjoy it even tho the campaing could be long, one of the only complaints I had was the surface combat between warships, it didn't happen very often, I did have one where the battle Lasted over 15min of real time tho, what a battle. That and lack of combat in the China Theater, you could only go so far and then no farther. excellent game tho, one of the few out there on the Pacific Theater. Looking foreward to his new one coming out. The newer Version of PacWar is supposedly better then the old one,I always enjoyed PacWar, Have you played it before? good game, can be quite involved until you learn the ins and outs... good luck
I have been Wargame collector since 8th grade both board and computer, have quite a collection.

ps, I agree Vegard, never enough money or time for all the games...need to win a lottery

Well, mind you this isn't war, but I'd be curious to see how a game like SimLife would play on a really crankin' machine. I could never get a stable 3-level ecosystem going because my machine at the time couldn't handle huge worlds with enormous pops, which of course you need if you are going to have predators eating herbivores eating plants. But probably too much like school for most people.
I loved SimLIfe. I think we were the only two people in the world who did.
I couldn't wait to load it up on my new machine when I upgraded about a year ago. Unfortunately one of the floppies (yes, it's that old) had gotten corrupted and it wouldn't load.

Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
Tesco, great game, watch out for the "Geishas",
make plenty of alliances, tacitcal combat is fun,
enjoy the game. Do the full install not the custom otherwise you won't get the full imput of the Throne Room.

Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
Tesco, Shogun is a fantastic game - I won't ruin it for you by giving you loads of gameplay tips but on the options screen, for your first couple of games, I would disable the army fatigue and the limited ammo options - you will have enough problems with coordinating and controlling your first battles without worrying about your troops getting knackered or running out of arrows
the only thing I will say is WATCH OUT FOR THE WARRIOR MONKS!!

Re: OT-New Computer needs new games
A friend of mine lent me Alien vs Predator 2.
with the request that I play it in the dark with headphones on and as a marine.
25 minutes later I almost crapped my pants. I think I jumped about 10 feet in the air.
That game has ambience. I recommend it just for the scare factor. It really sets the mood early.
P.S. Do not worry. First person shooter games will never replace grand epic 8 years to master/finish stag. games.
