Two Questions
I have two immediate questions.
First, being somewhat new to Dominions (I played D2 for a bit), are there any places where I can download a saved game, to look at while I check out the manual?
Second, is there a list of Dominion user web sites?
This is a wonderful game, with one of the best manuals I've seen.

Re: Two Questions
There aren't that many Dominions fansites. Most of the pages that do exist will be mentioned here before long. The only one I can think of ATM is SunrayBe's site with lots of fan-made documentation, mainly for DomII. It's at
www.freewebs.com/dominions2
EDIT:
I forgot to answer the other question!
There is a tutorial that comes with the game. You probably found it already, if you're reading the manual. Do you mean a game where you can see how more experienced people do things? In that case, this forum has an AAR section which has few AAR that report on the hows and whys of Dominions. The Silent Seas AAR is very good, and actually completed.

Re: Two Questions
Thanks Endoperez.
I was looking for a saved game file just to see how various formula work and the myriad effects of magic and all the rest. Whenever I'm attempting to play a game that I'm not entirely familar with, I find it instructive to play against myself (not with myself, now )and then test various things. It is in this way I typically gain a better understanding of a game.
I have played the tutorial and am looking at the AARs. This game has so much to it and is so damnably deep, that some sort of plan needs to be devised to best understand what is happening.
Thanks,
Alan

Re: Two Questions
When you find the nation section, you'll find some simple strategies. Research strategies are more complicated in the beginning. The manual has info on that as well.
One easy combo mentioned in Manual is MA or LA Man and Wind Guide, for great Longbows who are made even greater.
Another would be to research Thaumaturgy with Astral nation and use Mind Burn, Paralyze, Soul Slay and Enslave Mind. To help your mages cast all of those, you can use Conjuration spell Light of the Northern Star, or the item Banner of the Northern Star that casts that spell automatically. Manual has a list of magic-boosting items in the end, and there's Power of the Spheres in Conjuration that can be used to furhther increse magic in battles.
