teleporting ships

my ships no longer fly thru space but teleport from planet to planet. perhaps one of my cats stepped on my keyboard while i was getting a beer from the fridge.
how do i control the speed of the display as i prefer the leisurely flights where i can see who else is in systems my ships pass thru?

Such thinks have been known to be caused by use of winmodems, in which case a reboot would clear the issue.

You can also check in your Game Menu (F2) -> Options -> Animate ship movement

thanks for the reply. i don't [and would never] use a winmodem - i'm connected via an adsl router.
animate ship movement is selected in the game options menu and was b4 this occurred.
i guess i'll just have to live with it.

Try deselecting it anyway - Sometimes, that does work for no apparent reason, or so I gather.
