OT: Cool new technology!
Check it out!
http://www.defensetech.org/archives/002214.html
The video is extremely cool, and not a little creepy.
Note also the highly entertaining off topic argument on the same page

Even more, you dimwits. It's called oceans, you know!

Firstly, fish (and other marine lifeforms) swim, not walk, and secondly, people cannot walk in the ocean. The swim in it, dive in it or sail on it, but they do not walk on it. Well, save for one individual, that is

You are readig that way too literally Strategia. He was talking about land mass as surface, which is a common mode of speech.

Re: OT: Cool new technology!
I actually knew a guy that was working on a similar project, working with live dogs and pressure sensors. Specifically, they wanted to model the way they run as opposed to just making AT-AT style walkers.
I liked the site's feature on laser technology...

Re: OT: Cool new technology!
I bet it could withstand the recoil of a weapon. How would you like to see this thing prancing toward you with a mini-gun turret on it. Put some low power radar on it and it could probably duck incoming RPG's.
Hope they don't try to mount each other...or us!

Re: OT: Cool new technology!
So, if you carry a laser pointer into battle, could you make them all chase the dot and run into things?
Much easier than trying to trip them.
