History?

I've seen a couple of references to it in SE4, mainly the settings.txt, but is there any way to "record" a game so to speak, so you know what happened when?

i think the history files are only the place where the game records the contact history you see displayed under the empires button/history button.

eg
2405.3 first contact
2409.8 Trade Alliance
etc
etc
etc.

I believe there's a switch in the game setup, under "Mechanics"... it records the log of all players in the game (meaning you'll get everything from the AI Messages, to combat reports, to Ship 0042 has completed construction).

Yes, that's right. In settings.txt, there are two entries to log events, which create history text files of log events.

Change

Create Log Text Files for Players := False
Create Log Text File for Game := False

to True, as desired.
