Default Thanks for all of the tips

I would like to thank the board members here, I just had my most successful demo game yet. I played as Ulm with Faith of Steel, which seems like a must for Ulm, the sacred Black Knights are devastating.

For a pretender I used a Red Dragon with 9 in fire to get the flaming weapons (much fun with these) and had 3 order, 3 productivity, 2 drain and 2 misfortune. Cannot recall the castle that I used, but it was one with high admin. This pretender was by far the most successful that I have ever used. However, I would offer a word of caution to those who like super combatants, be careful, you may seriously regret battlefield afflictions, mute is especially nasty.

I had the misfortune of having the change comand backfire, because my dragon pretender got hit by missle fire, changed into a dragon and thanks to the command change back to human. In the process I took to afflications...not fun. Does anyone know if a ring of regeneration will remove aflictions for earlier battles.

It didn't in Dom I. Just lowered the chance in the first place.

It will greatly reduce chance of getting affliction, but it wont remove afflictions you already have.

How do you remove existing afflictions then?

Here is a thread listing most (perhaps even all) the known ways to heal afflictions. However, few of them are available in the demo.

Remove afflictions with:

- Being a Pangaea national unit, or certain Pangaean-type pretenders. They heal afflictions over time.

- So do immortal units, and anybody riding a unicorn. No, you can't switch mounts, and at least in Dom I it was impossible to gain immortality.

- Being healed by an Arcosephale priestess, or anybody with similar powers (there's a Tien Chi national heroine with this power, if memory serves). Takes an action by the healer.

- If you're a pretender, dying and being called back can heal some afflictions. Of course, dying also costs magic if you have any, and in the process you might have gained more afflictions.

- Being within your own dominion, and under your own Gift of Health global enchantment (Enchantment 5, requires nature).

- Being in the same province with a friendly commander with the Chalice (artifact; requires construction 8, something like astral/nature as well).

Cool handle Aetius! I've always wanted to know wether you are/were of Roman or Hunnic decent?

Your race sounds very entertaining. I think the great thing about the bless effects is the way you can pick a sacred unit (or any commmander with a shroud) and say "now what does this need to make it rock?" When I first looked at the Niefel gaints I thought they were too easy to kill for the cost and the whole theme looked too expensive. Then I printed out the bless effects

Thanks for posting your experiances.

Don't worry, be happy . . .

Keir

Keir to the best of knowledge none of my ancestors are of the linneage of any of the combatants at Chalons-en-Champagne. Of course there are some unknowns in the family tree so who knows. I have always been facinated by history, and in particular the Roman Empire.

Additionaly Fairy Queen can heal units as well.

She is level 8 summon and requires level 5 in nature and 40 nature gems, but it's the only healer avaliable to all races.
