Default Question/Interesting Idea

Well it's an interesting idea by my standards

Two parts to this, one concerning SEIV. And one concerning a possible idea for SEV that i have no clue if it has been suggested.

1. Is there anyway to mod a Happiness Modifier to a component in current SEIV?

1a. The reason for this is i've been playing Devnull as the Earth Alliance from Babylon 5 and apart from the obvious idea of playing the B5 Mod or the fact Earth Alliance doesn't have such weapons it makes me wonder. Stellar Manipulation.

Apart from Small Storm Creators/Destroyers, Warp Point Openers/Closers and Planet creators the rest could easily be classed as Weapons of UberlyFricking Destruction (i'll avoid the obvious political jokes). Especially the system wide destroying components.

Now, If you could imagine Humans and Alien population in Space Empires (and we usually think of aliens as good or evil in this game) i personally think Most "good races" people would be quite angry for such Components to be built. I think even in a century or two Nuclear Weapons are still going be seen as inhumane and will be most likely still a Weapon very few would use. (although i'm sure we'll have invented much worse by then )So Imagine a Weapon so powerful it could decimate entire solar systems and the outrage it would cause. I was thinking about the possibility of a system-wide happiness modifier that makes population angry when the ship with such components was in that system. If it was possible it could be modded to others. Planetary Napalm, Plague Bombs etc.

2. I'm pretty sure this isn't possible at the moment, as i haven't seen any mods use it, And i'm sure Fyron would have thought of this before me But I'm certainly hoping this could be possible in SEV, Modded or in the actual game. A great thing would be An Empire Wide Happiness Modifier. I think it would be pretty interesting as the current way Stellar Manipulation and Planetary Bombarding weapons operates is pretty simmilar with few disadvantages. If your production began to fall, relations with allies soured and slight riots cropped up through the construction and use of such ships it would make things much more interesting.

Not sure if anyone else feels like this would be cool, it's a case of realism vrs gameplay/fun in a sense, although i would enjoy this feature

I'm sleepy now and completely incoherrent, so if anyone can make sense of this be my guest

Does anyone ever *use* planet destroyers? They always go for the star destroyers

I've used the star destroyes in the past if there is a huge collection of one of my enemies, and it would be simpler to just wipe out the system than try to battle all of those ships. I don't think I've ever used a planet destroyer. I usually create planets out of asteroids, not the other way around.

Planet destroyer with a cloak is quite fun. At least against the AI on turn based.

Slip right in, uncloak. no more planet, and a fun message for the AI player.

Perhaps there is a way to mod in the effect- don't the behavior settings (Neutral, Agressive, Peaceful) have different affects for various actions in game? maybe there is a way to include actions like planet and star destroying that way...

I just think that there should be some sort of negative effect from using these sort of weapons. If you build one of these you certainly have the resources and the time so there needs to be a downside.

It's more of a suggestion for SEV. Empire wide Happiness Modifiers and the happiness ability able to be placed on components I think it would make things interesting.

If Empire-wide effects are to be implemented for WMD's, I think that should be a big part of it - empire's demeanor and all. Why would a bloodthirsty Klingon empire be adverse to killing a few billion enemies with a suicidal crew manning a star destroyer. What an honorable way to go as a Klingon. In fact, it should *increase* their happiness.

I agree, although a bloodthirsty race might have other things that really annoy it

I have used planet destroyers from time to time, but not for attacking my enemies. If a planet I want to colonize has the wrong atmosphere type, I sometimes repeatedly destroy it and reconstruct it until I get the atmosphere I want.
