Default AI ship names

I was looking at the Enemy Ship Designs after a battle against an AI fleet with seven or eight different ships in it, and noticed a pattern. Going down the alphabetical list, the ships had progressively more advanced tech installed.

Does the AI just name ships in the order it finds the names in the design names file? If so, does recognizing that give a human player an unfair advantage over the AI? i.e. Does it help to know that the Last ship in alphabetical order is the most advanced? Maybe the AI should pick names randomly.

Default Re: AI ship names

All it would tell you is that:
Those "abba" class ships are probably easy prey, since I've seen "Gonzo" class ships.

If the battle with the "Gonzo" was hard, don't try attacking the "Zorro" class

It would only be slightly harder with human-named ships, in that you just write down the order that you see them in. Often it dosen't matter if you know how much superior the enemy is: you kill his weak and old, his new ships crush you. His even newer ships crush you just a little faster

Humans may misdirect you by making a "builder" class warship, and a "Bulldog" class SYS, but you will learn quickly.

It seems to me that you will already have scans of most of the enemy ships anyways, so you would not get much out of a name-analysis.
