Default Problems with Fyron\'s Quadrant Mod

This might be a simple thing but I recently downloaded the deluxe Version of the mod, Fyron's Quadrant Mod, and when I load in the map editor and try to generate a map I get an error message saying "Unable to open ~quaddranttypes.txt" and I can't generate a map.

However, if I load in the game and generate a map from within the game I don't get the error message. I can save the map at that point and then open that map in the editor. It just doesn't allow me to generate a map from within the editor.

I've reinstalled and patched the game, I've downloaded the mod several times, all with the same result. I have no problems generating maps with the unmodded game or with, say, the Devnull mod.

Anyone come across this with the newest Version of Fyron's mod??

Welcome Shirahko!

My understanding is that the map generation in the map editor doesn't quite work, especially with mods. (And it may not even work with the vanilla game ; or rather, I think it doesn't let you choose which mod to use if you happen to have several)

At any rate, the map generation in the editor tends to crash more often than not, so you should generate maps within the game itself rather than use the editor for this purpose.

Try generating the maps with some of the FQM quadrants included in Devnull. You will likely see the same problem.

As Alneyan said, it is not a problem with FQM, it is a problem with the map editor choking on non-standard data files. The only solution is to generate the maps in-game and save them. Even with stock, the map editor tends to generate maps that are not too random...

this is because the map editor defaults to the stock files for stuff....

I always generate the map in game with FQM, Save it, and then edit what i need in the map editor, saving regularly so if it crashes it should be fine to reload and carry on.
