Default component damage

Is there a way to tell how much damage a component can take before it is destroyed? Will moving through an unstable warp point (200 points damage) destroy a specific component, for example. Also does each component get damaged moving through an unstable warp point, or just a random one?

All components have a damage Kt rating - just look at the description of the component, its right below the space req.

As to the WP damage, I think it is random, but you can protect yourself by using armor. I'm not sure the amount or strength, but it has been discussed in previous threads...

The first time I sent a scout ship through an unstable warp point, my Escort came out the other end with everything but the auxiliary bridge destroyed. I've seen larger ships lose half their components.

The amount of damage a component can take appears to be the Tonnage Structure entry in Components.txt

Thank you. Now, next question, can you tell how much damage a component has actually taken?

Anytime a component takes damage, either in combat, by mines, or natural means, if it takes damage to its limit it will be destroyed. If the damage does not reach the limit of that particular comp, then it goes back to full strength at the end of the round of combat, or at the end of that turn fo rother types.

All components that are not completely destroyed are then back to full strength.
