Re: Kicking player?
We'll I'm on a small ISP that's local here in the county, not much of a Spam senders target to transmit from.
Yes, if he had uplaoded within 24 hours I wouldn't have tried to reach him, and therefore wouldn't have had seen that he doesn't reply.
I don't belive the vacation thing, but hey who knows, maybe...
He really bugs me, dealying turns like that without explanation, turn after turn after turn after turn...
And to top it off I've recently started getting spams to my private e-mail adress and two mails the Last two weeks with attached viruses (2 out of 3 since I started getting e-mails, what? 10 years or so ago). So I'm in a bad mood
I don't kick people as a gut response, never had.
But if I can't get into contact with them I might consider it, as I'm doing.
I was planning on doing a turn offline with changing password, but O wanted to hear what people thought of it, is it an intrusion on his integrity? What's worse, kicking or changing password? I belive it's worse to kick him.
i've played in OPBW games where players have been kicked after not replying to the hosts mail, I didn't protest then as it was a rule in that game and that player had accepted the rules when joining the game, a rule I've since adopted in my games aswell.
If I need to get into contact with one of the fast uploaders and they don't respond, I'll treat them the same way as I treat this slow uploader, even if it will hurt (me as I like fast uploaders).
I never stated that I wanted to kick him becourse of his slow uploads, I was quite clear why, I even posted the rule (se first post),
There is another slow uploader in the game who has responed to my mails, I wouldn't dream of kicking him, on the contrary, I'll go a long way to keep him in the game!!!
I might be somewhat annoyed with him uploading late as I'm anxious to play the next turn, but I understand his reasons and fully support him in his right to take the time he needs.

Re: Kicking player?
Just to clarify things so there's no misunderstandings.
The one I'm discussing here who don't reply is SWizzardS so if anyone has any contact with him get him to contact me ASAP.
I know very little about him as he is the only one of the 20 players who hasn't introduced himself at the game forum page.

Re: Kicking player?
A few thoughts:
- This game was specifically set up for newbies. Maybe this guy is a newbie to Online gaming as well and doesn't understand that he/she is holding up the game for everyone, but he should.
- However, one of the game rules was to have a valid email address. Not having one (or simply not responding to the host) is breaking a rule. Breaking a rule should be subject to some penalty.
- The game turn rate is 72 hrs. The 20 players are from all over the world and have different schedules. As one of the players who recommended 72 hrs instead of 48 hrs, I would like to reiterate my position. It is that most of the time I feel that I can get turns in within 24 hrs (and have been) but due to real life and my job, there will be times where I will need 72 hrs. To date, I have never been anywhere near the Last to upload, but I may be in the future. The reason I requested 72 hrs is that I view these games as a commitment and I didn't want to hold up the game occasionally. I didn't want to "commit" to a shorter game time when I knew there would probably be times that I couldn't make it. This is out of respect for the other players.
- The point here is our average turn time. I think players should submit their turns as early as possible out of courtesty to others.
Conclusion: I continue to commit to getting my turns in as soon as possible out of courtesy, but may, at some future time, occasionally need the full 72 hrs. I believe that not having a valid email address should result in some action by the host and I support whatever means he uses to decide. I would vote if there is a vote. I agree that a host does not need to put these actions up for a vote and as host can act as he thinks best for the game. I sure would like to see the average turn rate increased as well.
Slick.

Re: Kicking player?
I will say on Swizzard's behalf that I play in another PBW game where he has been ahead of the time schedule. Sadly, in that game I have been the absolute Last turn for the 3-4 turns now. In game he responds consistently, and out of game we have swapped emails. I would more easily believe that his email is bouncing yours out of the mailbox, or perhaps he has gotten himself in too many games at once (like that's never happened to anyone)
You might try contacting him in game as well, if you have not done so already.

Re: Kicking player?
A number of places, such as university systems, will outright refuse ANY email from such places as mail.com or hotmail, or whatever.
I ran into this before, and what happened was no bounceback, but the recipient never recieved the text of the email, just a notice that a message was filtered.

I agree.
I thought 72 hours was good as you could be away and not miss many turns, you could have something to do some weekend and not miss a single turn.
BSo I think that 72 hours is a good turn time and I have no intention of changing it, it was set at this time rate when the game begun and I can't change such things just to fit my interests, all players joined the game with the rules and limits that where present when the game started. I'll have to accept that.

Can you mail him and tell him to get into contact with the host in NGC3.
I have no in-game contact with him.
