Reversing Anti-planet spy mission?
In my current game, one of the computer-controlled TDM races sabotaged one of my planets with a successful spy/intelligence mission. I don't remember the exact description, but the message said something about a bomb was successfully exploded in atmosphere which lowered my planet's condition.
The planet condition went from Optimal to Deadly in a single turn. I promptly built a Climate Control facility to try and upgrade the planet condition, but after approximately 20 turns the condition is still Deadly.
Is there a way to reverse the effects of a spy mission like this? Or do I just need to live with it?
For what its worth, as far as I can tell the Deadly condition is having no effect on my planet -- the population isn't going down, the happiness rating is Jubilant, and the planet is happily producing just like it was before the conditions were altered.
Thanks in advance,
Sockum

Re: Reversing Anti-planet spy mission?
Others may have more info, but from what I understand, planetary conditions are a bit of a wasted effort as far as the game goes. Seems to have very little effect.
As to the facs to help it out...if you read closer, you'll find that it takes a year to make an adjustment. And a small adjustment at that! I never use them.

Planetary conditions are actually quite important. Better conditions give higher rates of growth, which gives more population. More population means more resources and higher production rates.

With Planet Engineering Tech then Planet Utilization techs 1-3, you will get the Climate Control Facility, this will reverse the effects and improve the planet conditions to 100% (Optimal) over time

Re: Reversing Anti-planet spy mission?
I built a Climate Control Facility III (CCF) on the affected planet. I read the CCF description as increasing the planet condition by 3% each turn.
If as Slynky says the CCF only increases the planet condition by 3% per YEAR, then maybe I'll see a change as I continue to play. Although I believe I've had a CCF for at least 2 years, and the planet condition is still Deadly.
In any case, thanks for the replies -- its always nice to know you're not playing in a vacuum!

Re: Reversing Anti-planet spy mission?
Yes, so after 2 years, a CI-3 plant will get you only 6%.
Assuming your planet got knocked down to 0%, and IIRC, the planet modifiers are every 20% or so, it'll take 3 more years to get to harsh conditions.
-----
However, CI facilities, (and value improvement plants, too) will fully stack.
If you build two or three on the planet, you'll get the improvements 2 or 3 times faster.

True. But a few differences in percentage points on a place you never intend to populate don't really matter. I'm talking about places with less than 100 pop. Places you settle with 4 pop.
IF this is a big planet with a large populaton (or large planned population), those few differences in percentage growth becomes more important.
In a current game, growth percentages range from 11% (unpleasent) to 18% (optimal). Not sure what deadly does... .
But, as I said, if you've been "zapped", it will take years (!) to repair it and not many games I play in Last past 10 years for the whole game.
I guess you could say, "If you have nothing else to build there, then try to improve the conditions with a fac." But take a look at how long the game may Last first.

Re: Reversing Anti-planet spy mission?
All planets are destined to have max population. Acquire samples of other races, and optimize the planets. Convert the atmospheres of those you can't get. Take Organic so you can build Replicant Centers in every system.
