SpacePorts + Research Centres: bug?
Quick question: am I right in thinking that if I do *not* have a SpacePort (anywhere) in a system, the Colonies information window shows resource points, research + intel all in parentheses () --- which I take to mean the production is not being credited to my empire --- *but* research points (and I think intel points too?) *do* get credited to me. Whereas resources really don't get credited?
And if this is true, is it a "bug"/mistake, or intentional? Am I duty-bound (ethically) to build a SpacePort in a system with research facilities?

Re: SpacePorts + Research Centres: bug?
I just tested this and didn't get the same results. Are you sure you're adding everything correctly? You're right, BTW, a () surrounding an amount in the colonies info window means those resources/research points aren't being added in your total
If you didn't just make a math error (no big deal, it happens), try starting a new game with no one else in it and colonize a planet in another system. Just build research facilities, and see if your new research points are added when you're on your research window. On my Version, they aren't.
Note, of course if you take Natural Merchants as an advanced trait, you won't be needing space ports. I assume you don't have that, otherwise you shouldn't be seeing the () around your amounts in the first place.

Re: SpacePorts + Research Centres: bug?
I must admit I never seem to spend the time to calculate it all in detail. (In any case, the numbers never seem to add up to the total I'm getting; I assumed there were some changing happiness modifiers.) It was just an observation based on: I'd build some Research Centres, see the number in ()s, look at the total, build a SpacePort, see the number out of ()s, but my grand total didn't seem to change (much), which I would have expected.
At any rate, are you suggesting I'm just wrong and it does work exactly the same for Research & Intel as Resources? That would be fine.

Re: SpacePorts + Research Centres: bug?
Well, what I was getting at was that it's supposed to work correctly, and has been for me. If it isn't for you, more info and/or testing would be needed to see if it's just a bug that pops up under unusual circumstances.

Re: SpacePorts + Research Centres: bug?
Some of the screens might show what was produced Last turn and is thereby availiable to use this turn(such as the intelligence, research, and empire status screens). Other screens show the current production (the score area I believe does this and perhaps the colony area although I don't usually look there) and show what you will have availiable at the beginning of the next turn. This may be the area that causes the confusion.
