Did some research on mines and found some interesting things out. Enjoy.
1. Do shields work against mines?
Nope. Just pretend your ships only raise their shields for combat. Mines, being unexpected, catch them with their pants down, so to speak.
2. Not even if I have shields regeneration components?
Nope, not even then.
3. Um, what does that mean for Crystalline Armor?
Bad things, actually. CA is just 150 damage resistant armor to mines. It has no special properties.
4. Does Organic Armor heal after mines?
Nope. Not after individual mines and not after the whole mine field.
5. So, how do mines deal damage?
Actually, it's kinda scary. See, each warhead (*not* each mine) deals its damage and then any extra damage to the ship is cleared! That's right, 100 dmg mine warheads CANNOT hurt a ship with scatter, crystalline or organic armor, since it takes 150 damage to kill those components!
This is one reason why larger mines aren't really that great. Who cares if you have 100 warheads per mine, if each individual one cannot hurt the ship. Personally, I think this should be changed.
To give an example, the first level Warhead deals 100 damage. A small mine can fit two. Armor III can absorb 40 damage. A small mine with two warhead I's only kills 4 Armor III components, not five. Each warhead kills two with 40 dmg each and the Last 20 is lost
