Mod Picker problem
Greybear is having a problem with the modpicker program, unfortunately he doesn't have the hos pass to the Shrapnel forums right now so I'm going to go ahead and post for him see if anyone has any ideas.
Quote:
When I try to open the mod with the ModPicker v2.01, all I get is a "File Access Denied" screen. I can't even shut off the modpicker screen with the "x" button; I get the same error.
I reloaded the modpicker and still have the same problem. Does anyone have a solution to this??
Thanks...Greybeard

Re: Mod Picker problem
Perhaps the path.txt, or one of the program's config files is write-protected?
Or its running from the CD and attempting to save?

Re: Mod Picker problem
You might want to check with Grey beard again. He emailed me that he got it fixed by reloading SEIV. Unless he's got a new problem.

Re: Mod Picker problem
Yes, I was able to fix the ModPicker problem by reinstalling everything from scratch. That fixed almost everything...
Now, when I play my turn in the Capitals PBW game, it won't let me end my turn. I can still play at work, but not on my home computer. This isn't a huge problem, because in about 4 turns everything in the Capitals game will be in the hands of the Andrium. However, it's still an irritant that I can't get it to work.
Thanks for your help....Greybeard

Re: Mod Picker problem
What happens when you try and end your turn? What sort of message do you get?

Re: Mod Picker problem
The error box has the following message:
"Unable to save Player Change File "f:\space empires iv gold\capitalmod v1.1\savegame\capital_0002.plr"
If you have any ideas or want the file, please let me know. Thanks...Greybeard

Re: Mod Picker problem
I was able to get an error like that by changing the properties on teh .plr file in the savegame directory. Although I don't know what might cause that to happen on it's own.
Go into the capital mod savegame directory and see if there is already a capital_0002.plr file. Delete it if there is. Then try running you turn. If it works then try it a second time and see if the error comes back.

Re: Mod Picker problem
Mod directory has the correct name? Does the folder "savegame", within the mod folder, exist? If you transfered the .plr file from work to home via CD, it might still have "Write Protect" attribute set, check that also (or delete the old file).
Edit: Geoschmo is typing too fast

Re: Mod Picker problem
You guys are really great! I deleted the .plr file and the end turn worked great.
Thanks for the assistance...Greybeard
