I\'m so loved
I was wondering...my current game everybody seems to love me. Partnership, partnership with everyone. Some of them are partnership with me even murderous attitude.
Hoy can diplomcy work this way with AI? They just don't like war. (except with eachother)

Re: I\'m so loved
oh, just wait. this will change with time, trust me.... get way ahead of one or more them (in score) and induce mega-evil empire, then you'll have so many wars

Re: I\'m so loved
I think it is pretty good feature of the AI that they maintain their Partnerships even though they are murderous. I think this means that if they were more powerful than you, they would go to war and try to cleanse the universe of you. But right now, they know they can't compete with you and don't want to lose out on the benefits of trade, research, intel, resupply, ship designs, start charts, etc. I think that is pretty cool--as compared to an AI which has 1/10th the resources/tech you have and which randomly declares war on you and loses a trade treaty worth 90% of their GNP.
The disadvantage of the diplomatic model is that in most games you can be all happy and friendly with everyone right up until the turn before you build up incredible defenses capable of standing up against a united AI front and an armada which can utterly devastate every planet in the galaxy...

Re: I\'m so loved
I'll have to agree with raynor - I think they're maintaining the partnerships purely because you're too far ahead for them to want to fight. I base this on the fact that I had an ally declare war on me within 5 turns of signing a Partnership treaty (and watching the empire's attitude change from Brotherly to Murderous). I think he got upset about all the worlds I'd colonized that he wouldn't get to colonize... Anyway, in the same game, I've maintained a treaty with one neutral empire, even though they're "Murderous" towards me (again, I think they're upset because I colonized a couple worlds in their system ).

Re: I\'m so loved
But they don't TELL YOU why they are angry. That's what's frustrating. Apparently they will not bother to send Messages stating that they claim some system or other that you have colonized unless they intend to actually go to war over it. So you're left to search the "borders" window map or check other things in the game yourself to figure out why they are getting angry.
