Right thanks.

I thought most MP games were played with high Indy settings however? (or: what do you consider "low"?)

Tinkthank,

Did a poll on the same subject but a search does not pull it up. Check out: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...;f=74;t=001181

The majority of people did not think one type of pretender was clearly superior to the other, but the General's words sound true for smaller maps. I am still training in SP. If games usually end around turn 100 in MP, a more concentrated strategy may be needed in lieu of diversity / flexibility.

And so-called "blitz" MP games (for VPs) frequently end in under 25-30 turns.

Default Rainbow Pretenders in Multiplayer

There seems to be a general consensus amongst the more experienced players that rainbow mages as pretenders in MP is not wise. Why is that?

I would say because most MP games are played on crowded maps with low to medium indy values, where a rushed initial expansion is essential and SC pretenders are at their best. A rainbow pretender, on the other hand, is a long-term investment.
