Dual wielding shields...
How exactly does that work? It seems that the parry values simply add together, but what about the protection values? Are they added together to reduce attack damage, or does it only ever count one shield?

Re: Dual wielding shields...
I doubt anyone's ever tested it, and I don't think you can get that kind of data from the debug log. You can test it by modding one shield with parry 1 and Prot 100, and another shield with parry 100 and Prot 1, and see if that makes you invulnerable.

Re: Dual wielding shields...
I tried to test this just now, but unless I'm doing something wrong it seems you can't mod a unit to use two shields, even if you give it 4 arms. And of course it's completely impossible to make magic items to do the job, so I can't think of a way to do it. If someone else would like to try for the purposes of this test, please go right ahead.

Re: Dual wielding shields...
You do get the magical effects from 2 shields don't you? Awe and Fire Shield, for example?

Yes you do.
I beleive the protection value does not stack and depends on which shield was hit during the attack. Dual shield could be effectively used by a large being with trampling vs smaller beings. You can give trampling ability to somebody equiping him with Stymphalian Wings for example, and casting quickness or giving him Boots of Long Strides to increace action points making him trample more units each turn.

There's an item Shield of Valor, and there's an armor Shield of Valor.
You can give the test subject two shield items, and make those items use the new shields you made; or change the armors those magic items give.
