Default OT (sort of): Farewell to the Master

I recently discovered that the original short-story on which the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still was based is available online. Apparently its copyright was not kept up by whoever controlled it.

Farewell to the Master by Harry Bates features a human character named Klaatu like the movie, but the robot is named Gnut rather than Gort. In the tradition of American short stories, it ends with a surprise twist right at the end. I think 4X gamers will like this twist.

You just scared the Carp out of me, Baron. I thought some SEV shipset builder or modder had died.
