Shift has forsaken me.
Recently, after tweaking the video preferences slightly, (widescreen to windowed) I've been unable to use caps of any kind in Dominions 3, including Caps Lock and Shift. In addition, I can no longer hold an arrow key to quickly slide the PD. A lack of caps, aside from its obvious drawbacks, also prevents me from using hotkeys to convert gems to astral pearls. A minor gripe, but does anyone know how one might fix this? I've tried restoring the setting to their default...

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
Can you not use the '?' command either? This happened to me at one point.
I play the game in windowed mode now though and I don't have any issues with it. Try Alt+Entering and see if it works.

Also happened to me. When I resart the game everything is back to normal though.

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
Happened, but I don't remember the cause or a cure. The cure was prety straightforward though. Perhaps this one was fixed by Alt-Tabbing out of the program, and then back, like that letters-instead-of-sprites bug.

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
It happened to me once or twice.
Cure: Quit Dominions, restart Dominions.
Though the only irritation it got me was that I couldn't capitalize letters in renamed commanders names :X
Guess I'm just not the hotkeying kind of guy

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
That's odd, I could swear restarting didn't work last time.
Ah well, thanks! Back to normal!

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
I have no time to test it now, but this seemed to happen to me after I didn't capitalize my pretenders name once when testing game setups. At least I was unable to capitalize a pretenders name again, didn't try if shift worked anywhere else. Restarting the game fixed it.

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
It happens to me quite often acually, but luckily restart helps. Seems quite a common problem

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
It's a pretty common problem for computers in general, atleast for PC operating with Windows. I'm not sure why, but my guess is that when you play with the video it throws off the way the computer interprets data. If you alt+tab, it'll often damage the graphics, displaying them in various "off" manners. This is a bug I've already seen people writing about. The shift problem you're experiencing is likely in the same family, although I haven't personally experienced it, and problems with resizing seem to be much less common than fully opening or closing. If restart helps, that reinforces my interpretation, because it means resizing is somehow causing the program to "skip".

Re: Shift has forsaken me.
I learned of the graphical messup from alt-tabbing the hard way. Though it seems one can bypass the weirdness by making sure you're in the standard world map when you minimize
