Help with map description?
How do I put a return character into my .map file so my description is not just one big long paragraph? I can't figure it out by looking at the existing .map files

Re: Help with map description?
I tried alot of variations but I dont think any of them worked. I was very dissapointed when the standard \n didnt work. I was sure that was going to be the answer.

Re: Help with map description?
I've got a new (big, 275 provinces)map, but the description is longer than usual and trying to add lots of spaces just makes me pull my hair out.
PS I was hoping I could get it to the illwinter guys by way of you again?

All I do is write info@ over at the illwinter site. I dont think Im any more likely to get answers than anyone else (if anything I think I may be an above average irritation)

Re: Help with map description?
You have to save with newlines in the Unix format, not Windows format. I do not know how to do this with Windows software, but I use jEdit as my text editor ( www.jedit.org - it is free and open-source, but runs in java) and that lets you specify textfile encoding. So, either download a text editor that lets you specify the encoding, or send me the .map file and I will save it in Unix format and send it back to you.
BTW, I highly recommend jEdit, it is an excellent piece of software. Worth installing java, if your computer did not have it preinstalled. Especially if you program (in any language).

Try out proton.
It's freeware, it's quality software, it's available in english and - it lets you save in Windows, Unix, and Mac format ..
proton 3.2 english Version
Check out the developers homepage.
PS: It says the .map files are save in UNIX format ..

Re: Help with map description?
And the question becomes: What new program do you need to open a TGZ file?
