Thoughts about a Pretender for Ermor...
Well, i've been at this for awhile and have come to this conclusion...It is much easier, playing as Ermor, to have a all Death magic pretender. My Last incarnation is Death 9/Dominion 10 with luck and magic tilted in my favor. Man oh man, i'm still battling Pythium but i can outnumber them much easier plus with Gandalf's little tactic it works wonders: take a province and raise taxes 200%, then leave before the enemy comes. If you retake it and repeat eventually the ai stops trying to take it back (no profit?) and you can make "choke points" to help defend your territory. When ready, move a massive army in to patrol as you set the taxes back to 100% then build a fortress in a good spot and you've pushed the front into enemy territory and they are receding like gums with gingivitis . I won't spoil anything but i stumbled onto some VERY powerful units in a province i captured and i'm cranking out 20-30 of them a turn (mountain=resources) until i reach summoning 9 spells any minute now . In this game i was attacked by one gnarly independent army of Giant Trolls: Mages, fighters etc...Only 6 units ... I lost three armies including my uber-prophet until my God finally struck them down only to be rewarded with some AWESOME items in each slot . I love this game...i LOVE this game .

All this would seem more relevent if we knew which Version of Ermor you were commenting on. Ashen Empire? Broken Empire? Soul Gate? They play like totally different nations.

Oh, you met Bogus and his friends... Bogus is the toughest of the lot, but they all are very nice. That is, very bad. Also, there is an event where they free some of your blood slaves. No massacring of your troops, though... I wish my rpg group had characters like that!

Re: Thoughts about a Pretender for Ermor...
Well, victory is mine! Pythium is tough but with my Prince of Death at Death 9/Dominion 10 they had no chance. I played this game as the Broken Empire as i wanted more of a challenge, you have to micromanage a bit more and plot your fortresses more carefully being that you rely on living beings to aid you before you research the best summons. Pythium and Marignon have been the hardest nuts to crack playing as Ermor...without above stated Pretender setup. And the beat goes on... . My goal is to win as Ermor without a Death Magic Pretender Can it be done? Avast ye scurvy dogs!

For Broken Empire? Yes, a death pretender is not required at all.

Re: Thoughts about a Pretender for Ermor...
Try Ermor, Ashen empire
Pretender: 10 death, 5 air
At the start of the game set your pretender on research and go straight for mass flight. Once researched, amass a whole lot of slow undead on your pretender and give him a full load of air gems and cast mass flight in battle. Tada! Instant moving undead horde
