Yeah, I've tried that. Seems to make it slightly faster, but hardly enough to make a difference. Must just be the install of XP Pro I have.

True, and it does cut down greatly on the time it takes to move a ship (having to wait for the animation to end) so I guess its a mixed blessing in a way.

I had it installed on my work system (ssssshhhh) it too ran slow, no CD's in drive and on my home system win 98 runs fine. I just live with it

Anyone ever get distorted text from the computer player? I've been negotiating treaties with some neutrals (which uses the default speech.txt file) and their replies are distorted.
