Default Mod question - AI setup

Hello all,I have been over this forum quite a bit, but still can not find and answer to the following question:

What files need to be updated to add an additional race to an existing mod? I have installed the AST Modpack, and am now trying to add spacesharks (along with many others) to run with that modpack. When the AI executes, I get "value not found" for "Cloaking" when executing spacesharks_ai_research. Cloaking appears in the Techarea.txt document, and is not race specific, so I do not understand why it is not accessible. I have not done anything with racialtraits.txt yet, because I believe I will than have to re-generate all of my emp files. I have renamed that spacesharks_AI_research file so the default AI research is currently in use, but I would like to be able to fully add new races using the technologies that their creator intended, and I have not been able to figure out how. Is there any step-by-step doc for this? I have been thru a few modding tutorial documents, but none have addressed the issue of what needs to be modified to add a new race to an existing mod. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
