fighter resupply
Ok, this is driving me nuts. I am playing a single player simultaneous game using Devnull 1.70, which contains a Version (latest?) of FQM. I chose one of the FQM maps, but I am not sure which one it was, but I don't think it matters to the problem.
Problem: fighters won't resupply in a sector if the Resupply Depot is a moon. They resupply fine if the RD is on the "mother" planet.
Is this specific to Devnull? Is there a solution?
I normally am not a big fighter user so I don't know if this is a known problem. I have been using Retrive/Launch to resupply the fighters that are affected by this.
Anyone else notice this?
Slick.

Re: fighter resupply
That is really weird. It can not be caused by Devnull or FQM, as there is no way those mods could change how the resupply depot ability works. See if you can reproduce it in unmodded se4, and if so, send the savegame to MM.

Re: fighter resupply
I will try to duplicate it on an unmodded game.
I *think* that on each occasion that it happened (3 planet/moon sectors) that I colonized the moon before the mother planet due to atmosphere breathing.

Re: fighter resupply
i believe its a bug. [EDIT: says a bug ]
i believe its based on the fact that FQM puts several planets into one place.

Re: fighter resupply
I have another fighter resupply question.
Does fleeting fighters with another group of fighters cause them to share their supplies?
In a PBW game, 1 fighter group had no supplies. I send a second fighter group to them, and they both join the one fleet. I order them to move back to my Planet, expecting them to move 1 space the first turn and then full movement back to the planet. 3 turns later I check on them only to find out they have moved 3 spaces, with 1 fighter group still with no supplies.

That happens in unmodded SE4, so it is not an issue with FQM specifically.

I don't have a full answer, but I do know that there is a problem (bug?) with fleeting fighters. Fleeting fighters with ships will quickly suck down the supplies of the fleet so don't do this. Fleeting fighters with other fighters seems to drain supplies of some of the fighter Groups faster but I haven't tested this to prove it.

Re: fighter resupply
A rescent patch made it so that fighters no longer contribute suplies to a fleet. Looks like they don't share amongst themeselves either.

Re: fighter resupply
Isn't cheating to move fighters strategically?
Maybe not against humans, but is not fair against the AI.........

Re: fighter resupply
Ok, I confirmed that the fighter resupply bug is inherent to unmodded SE4 Gold at least in v1.84. A fighter stack will not be resupplied at a Resupply Depot if the RD is on a moon. They get resupplied fine if the RD is not on a moon.
I emailed MM about this bug and the fleet supply bugs.
