Default Religious Shrines

I have a question re: Religious Time Shrines. In the description it says: Increases mineral production in a system 5%. Would that apply to my allies planets in the same system? Also, if someone captures one of my planets but does not have the Deeply Religous trait will the shrines continue to work for them?

AFAIK its only your planets. If someone captures it (or getting it as a gift) it will still work for them regardles of their racial traits.

Gifting a planet to your ally and let him build racial facilities and gift the planet back, is a cheesy (cheating in my book) tactic used by some in multiplayer.

I have to disagree here.

It is a question of long term trust. Are you sure enought that the guy you're giving the facilities will remain your ally. Or the facilities could be part of a deal (1 tech + xxx ship versus this and that facilities).

Ultimately, it is a question of rule. Just check your PBW games allow for this.

There is precedence for this in the real world as well. Many nations have plants and factories and electrical generators in them they they could not build themselves built by other nations. Look at the Aswan damn in Egypt. Built with many Soviet engineers and resources.
The primary question here is how much do you trust the other guy. Do you want to gift nuke generators to Iraq or N. Korea?

I would not consider this cheating myself, unless this was part of a pre-game setup alliance. The ballance for this action is that you never know how far you can trust your friends.

Good tactics, Cheesy tactics or Cheating: It’s a matter of opinion.
It takes away some of the advantages/disadvantages with the choices of racial techs. It also gives an extra advantage to those players with the highest tolerance for micromanagement, not to the best players.

My personal opinion is that it is cheesy/cheating if it is not specifically stated in the rules that it is allowed, and therefore I will not use that tactic myself. But if somebody else are using it in a game I’m in, I will not run around calling them cheaters either (Though I might just send a stardestroyer to make my point ).

Stardestroyers tend to make points quite well.

I would like to point out that it does not specifically state in the rules that you are allowed to create a stardestroyer either.

This is why it is imperative to lay out the ground rules so everyone has fun and there are no hard feelings. There will always be people on both sides of the rules issue. Some will say that anything is permitted unless specifically disallowed. Others will say that nothing is permitted unless specifically allowed. Most will be in the middle. Since the objective is to have fun, lay out the rules on the controversial areas in the game setup and if people don't like the rules, they don't have to join that game.

Slick.

Sorry guys,
I was not my intention to start a discussion of how the game is supposed to be played. Let people play as they want.

I play by my own standards, so there is certain exploits I don't use (always good as an excuse if I loose ) .
