Space Empires the Board Game???
Ok, what about it? SEIV the Board Game? Think of it, a game you can play with the whole family without ever having too turn on your PC. An epic game of galatic conquest.
Hell the rules are simple enough. Most forum games use them. Simply update them, and set them up for board game play.
While Shrapnels at it, they could also do board game for some of their other fine games.
Set a standard, Shrapnel Board Games, the board games of the 21st Century.
Hell I would by an SEIV Board Game.

Hum, if you never heard of em, then I guess we would have to make some up. That's not really hard, just time consuming.

Re: Space Empires the Board Game???
I personaly would love an SE IV. I would even buy it. I expect I would never play it.
There was a game out in the 80's by Yakinto,(sp?)
called Battle.
It was a very easy game and could be taught to the average non gamer family. It could be "modded" to fit any "ERA" from Fantacy to Future.
If you want more info, please let me know.
It was a greate, "Beer and Pretzles" game.

Oh, and I'm sure you know about "Star Fire" that SE is based on. That was far to complex to try to introduce to a family. It was "Spread Sheet **ell" to quote my x family.

No computer? That would be too much like real life.
Actually I think that SE IV is a little too complicated for the "average" family. Either that or the board game would have to be too watered down that it would not do the original justice. Sort of like how most books are better than the movies made about them.

Re: Space Empires the Board Game???
Try "Twilight Imperium" for all your galactic conquest needs
Twilight Imperium
Its a nice little board game.. perhaps a bit long winded for a family play session though. It takes us a good 4 - 6 hours to play a 6 player game... especialy when we all know how to play.. its very cut throat and everyone gangs up on the leader

Re: Space Empires the Board Game???
The company that published Battle was spelled Yaquinto.
For a "family game", the upper limit of complexity is around the level of the game Risk.

Re: Space Empires the Board Game???
Anyone play the space game "Silent Death", fairly easy to play, its the die rolls that always get to me. SE4 could be set up similiar to it..
just some ideas mac

Re: Space Empires the Board Game???
The first 4X game I ever played was called Stellar Conquest. It was a board game, and a lot of fun, but definitely not something for your average family to play.
