Default What do you imagine the races in SE IV are like?

As I work more and more on my SE IV mod, I find that I want to individualize each race
"just right"...for example, have one race
prefer slow, heavily armored ships in their
design lists, while another race preferrs
fast, lightly armored ships....etc etc,

And some races go for the big 1,200 kt behemoths of death as their primary
hull, while others prefer to use 370 kt
Destroyers.....

How do all of the SE IV default races strike
you as being like? I'm stumped here. I need
some input on how to "characterize" the drushoka, etc AI build files....

To give an example:

Scharnhorst and her sister ships
were designed to fight French battlecruisers,
and they found themselves ill-matched in
the kinds of positions wartime forced themselves into...

Imagine your fast ships designed to fight
equally fast enemy ships running into big
heavily armored ships that shrug off your
first shots, and then respond with a
devastating broadside that leaves your ships
crippled hulks?

I felt that the default AI's pretty much all tend toward the big, slow, slugfest style, but the AI mods from the TDM mod, and some of the original races seem to have a little more of the ship size personality, and I've been finding that its possible to have even more control over the size of ships recently so I expect newer AI's to even have more of the perferred ship style that you are reffering to. As for which race uses what, you pretty much need to just go through a few games watching them.

I meant, what do you THINK the races play like, and behave like from reading their
Malfador-supplied background information?

The Malfador-supplied background information is often internally contradictory. I've edited many of them now and lost the original text. I'd have to reinstall to find some of the crazy things I remember now, but there are some really strange and uncoordinated statements in those 'history' blurbs. This in addition to simple spelling and grammatical errors that any decent word processor would have caught if they'd just used to spellcheck/grammarcheck features. The races seem to be fairly hasty creations that were not well imagined. This means you can make them what you want, though...
