Astral on an Immortal Pretender
Normally it is considered a bad idea to go low astral on a Pretender because of Magic Duel. I was curious if there were any other pitfalls to going low astral on a pretender beyond losing Magic Duels to recruitable mages?
And I just wanted to make sure...
An immortal pretender who loses such a duel would respawn in his own dominion just like if he was killed through other means, correct?

Re: Astral on an Immortal Pretender
No other real pitfalls, and even the magic duel danger is somewhat over-hyped I believe.
And yes, a dueled immortal pops back up just like with any other death, assuming you were in dominion.

Re: Astral on an Immortal Pretender
I cant think of any pitfalls off the top of my head. Tho.. isnt there some global that effects astral mages inside the casters dominion? Cant recall
On the bonus side of things you will never be Mind Hunted

No one ever casts that, and the danger is technically a mind duel anyway.

Re: Astral on an Immortal Pretender
Not being Mind Hunted sounds like a great trade off to me.

Re: Astral on an Immortal Pretender
Strands of Arcane Power (Evoc-9) initiates Mind Duels with all enemy astral mages in friendly dominion, and Mind Burns all non-astral mages.

Not so, Q! I just had a 6S mage lose a magic duel to a 1S mage. It was a tragedy!! My people wept.

Re: Astral on an Immortal Pretender
You shouldn't have been able to lose, just tie, unless this is yet another change from what's documented. Or were you just considering the mutual deaths of your opponent's crappy mage and your good one a loss?
