Default Modding Mistform on Vampires?

Has anyone tried adding the "mistform" trait in a mod to vampires and see if that works? Will it not return EVER once it's been broken between combats, or will it come back after combat has ended? There are no units in the game with Mistform as a default trait so i have to wonder if it will really work at all.

I'd like to see vampires get some more vampirely abilities. The mundane ones you get from the Counts are so lame

There is no mod command for giving Mistform as a special ability.

Hmmm... well I guess it's possible. Make a new unit that copies stats, sprites and all abilities save etheral from the vampire and give it #firstshape "vampire".

Now you got a vampire that goes solid when it's badly wounded, but regains the ability if it survives.

Innovative idea. "What doesn't kill me makes me weaker".

You can't copy all abilities except one. Any way, because Vampires don't have etherealness any more, it would be done by making a 1-hp ethereal Vampire and giving it a secondshape of the normal vampire. They'd even heal the afflictions that they'd constantly get, thanks to their immortality.

Seems like a very good idea : I find vampires in dom3 to be fairly weak : even medium medium or heavy indeps infantry seams able to win versus an equal number of vampires (maybe not always, but at least most of the time).

Of course immortal is a potentially very powerful ability, but if the creature as nothing else going for it (and don't start with life drain, as vampires without armor nor etheralness die almost immediatly to anything)

By the way, did I miss something with lamias ? I cannot find a use for them : lifedrain and regeneration, as for tht vampires, doesn't save an unit without at least medium armor, their caract are not really impressive, and the second shape, while useful, remove them their lifedrain attack.

having good HP or ways to gain it back (regen and lifedrain)are not useful if any unit, even militia, can hit you most of the time for heavy damage.

Last time I tried to use lamias, it reminded me when I use shamblers to take over the see : can do some damage, one lone arrow or attack won't kill them, but once it start really raining arrows and spells, or when melee start, they drop by the dozen.

Maybe their strength is their numbers (when summonde by a lamia queen or another unit with a bonus) ?

Or did I miss something ?

I don't know, ten independent Lamias wiped out my starting army once. Vampires are only really good for attacking the archers/mages, though.
