Well they certainly existed in Dominions: Priests, Prophets and Pretenders, but I don't think I have seen them in Dominions II... Atleast, not more than once or twice.

I know, I've seen them in the original dominions demo, even though I only played it half a dozen times(vs. probably 50+ dominions II games without finding them). I strongly suspect that when people say they have seen them in dom II they are thinking of dom I, the crystal amazon mercs, or in the amazon mod.

They are an exceedingly rare poptype, partly because they are rare as such and there are so many other poptypes that can be found on plains (almost everything except the tribal barbarians, lizardmen and sea populations). Most of the other terrain types have a bit more restricted range of poptypes.

The crystal amazon poptype itself exists and can be assignet to a province in a mapfile. I suspect the reason they are so rarely seen is the same reason the trolls/vaettir poptype is rarely seen, they get drowned out by the others. If the poptype determination is anything like magic site determination (i.e. rare ones are rerolled once and only if the reroll is also rare, will there be a rare poptype in a given province), that'd be a very good explanation for why we see so much of the various infantry/archer/militia, infantry/infantry/crossbow etc combinations, they are the common ones.

They disappeared at some unknown date. A random number that called poptypes was to low and didn't include the crystals. It's been fixed in one of the later patches (can't remember wich), but games started don't have them.

Crap! Just checked for safetys sake. The bug was still there. I hate when bugs reemerge. Just as if they wasn't aware of us fixing them. I suppose I only fixed it in the Dom3 code. Or possibly the fix was replaced by code from JK's computer. Bleh!

Thanks for checking, this has actually been the only dominions bug that ever bothered me
