really basic modding question
Okay, I want to seriously try my hand at modding. Specifically, I'd like to create a baseline "mod" for each race that duplicates the race exactly. From there I can tweak, add & delete to my heart's content.
Studying the Devils mod was most informative. However I have one really basic (and probably very stupid) question: where can I find a list of the unit numbers for use with the #selectmonster command?

Re: really basic modding question
Select a unit in-game (bring up the description) and press "I" (that's shift-i).
BlackUnitView might also be helpful (look at my homepage).

Re: really basic modding question
if you're interested in modding all the base nation units, check out the All Units excel spread sheet on Sunray's site. It's got the monster numbers for all the nations troops.

(hehe, I don't understand why most modders use new monster numbers instead of just modding the existing ones, just makes for compatability problems down the road)

Re: really basic modding question
Actually the baseline MODs would have alot of use. Please consider making them available. One of the more interesting early mod ideas I saw was to try and convert one nation into another. The concept was that if you can duplicate Ulm and turn Man into Ulm then someone can play a game with their friends as Ulm vs Ulm.

Wow, that's quite useful! I didn't know it was so far along.
I bet I could write a program that converts it to .dm format. Probably take all day, though.

Re: really basic modding question
i agree, please release the baseline race once you are ready, it would make modding more easy for most people since they have, as called, a baseline !

yea, between that and your BlackUnitView it makes modding sooooo much easier. big thanks to both of you!
if you could rip that thing to a .dm file you would be my hero!
then all we'd need is someone figure out how to extract both .tga files for every unit and we'll be set!
