I'm thinking of getting 3D Canvas Pro to make ships for SE4/SE5/Starfury (fat chance I'll ever get anything actually DONE
) and I have just one question that I can't seem to find the answer for on the Amabilis website, so I was wondering if there was anyone around who used the program and could answer this for me...
What I want to know is, does the UV-mapping tool in 3D Canvas Pro keep whatever materials are on the object when you map it, and place them onto the UV texture map? Or does it just erase them? I'd really like it to keep them, because then I could texture something with the app's easy-to-use texturing tools, then convert to a UV map for use with Starfury, or SE5 when it's released.
I was also looking at Amorphium 3, BTW, and that looks REALLY impressive, with not just one but three ways to build objects - but there's just one thing bugging me about it: the "tin" (subdivision mesh) modeller looks like the only way to model things that aren't "blobby", but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn off the display and selection of points/edges/vertices that should be hidden by the front of the object, so every time I select something, it selects the front and back of the model instead of just the front which I want to select!
Surely there must be some way to turn this off, or at least another way to create angular surfaces...
