I am not sure which one is the best scan of the image and I can't find the file I had you use to make my current one so I refer to your professional opinion of which is best and/or most like my current one

edit: oh also reverse the image so it faces the same way as current avatar I can't have to much change

David, if you feel like playing around with these and these, there's a lot of material for avatars. The first set needs to be resized to 80x80 (some are not perfect squares, but 100x??? or ???x100, so need resizing so 80 is max dimension) and the second set needs to be resized from 80x100 to 64x80.

These avatars are all from the graphics of the old Age of Wonders game by Triumph Studios and just this morning I got permission from Lennart Sas, one of their top guys, to use them in avatar galleries on forums. I specifically asked if it was okay to use them here at Shrapnel and he said yes, so they're good to go if Shrapnel wants them into an official gallery.

EDIT: Damn, might as well post the lot here:

This first batch is the five different AI levels from the game, in order: Squire, Knight, Lord, King and Emperor

The next batch contains the icons for different types of magic in the game, in the following order: Life, Air, Water, Death, Earth, Fire

Next up, the heraldry of the different factions in the game:

The Good

Elves
Halflings
Dwarves
Archons (went by the name of High Men in the first game)

The Bad

Dark Elves
Orcs
Goblins
Undead

The Ugly (neutrals)

Humans
Azracs (basically nomadic humans who live in deserts)
Lizardmen
Frostlings

Then we get to the actual units:

War machines and other machines: Battering Ram, Ballista, Catapult, Cannon, Flame Thrower, Builder, Drill

Ships and other transport vehicles: Balloon, Air Galley, Transport ship, Dragonship, Galley, Galleon

Elementals and other units:

Air, Earth, Fire and Water Elementals, Syron, Magic Servant, Fire Sprite and Mermaid

Dragonish creatures: Red Dragon, Black Dragon, Green Wyvern, Sea Serpent, Ice Drake, Silver Dragon (not in the game, but appears in Warlock's mod), Wyvern, Goblin Wyvern Rider

Animals and monsters: Boar, Wolf, Giant Eagle, Dire Penguin, Black Spider, Giant Frog, Lurker, Basilisk, Giant Slug, Spider Queen, Elephant, Giant Scorpion, Fire Worm, Beholder, Doombat

Undead units: Bone Ram, Skull Thrower, Bone Horror, Mummy, Wraith, Shadow

Sylvan creatures: Halfling Eagle Rider, Nymph, Unicorn, Druid, Satyr, Giant, Leprechaun, Centaur, Elven Scout, Nature Spirit, Fairy

Goblins, orcs & dark elves: Kobold, Goblin (suicide) Bomber, Goblin Wolf Raider, Lady of Pain, Orc Warlord, Troll, Karagh, Incarnate (possessing spirit)

Azracs, Lizardmen, Frostlings & humans: Djinn, Yaka Avatar Salamander, Turtle Ballista, Turtle Catapult, Frostling Wold Rider, Yeti, Frost Queen, Northern Glow, Charlatan

Archons & Dwarves: Angel, Valkyrie, Titan, Dwarf Berserker, Dwarven Firstborn

AoW HERO PORTRAITS

Lizardmen, Frostlings & Azracs

Halflings, Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins & Undead

Elves & Dark Elves

Humans & Archons (High Men)

Miscellaneous & Main Characters (minus Gabriel, whose portrait is the last one in the Humans & Archons section)

WoW! lots of stuff there, I'm making all the new Avatars 64x64, so size is not a problem. I'll wait to see if Mindi wants me to 'process' all those pics.. I think we might grab a few, but not all. AoW not being a shrapnel product an all.

Cheers!

You're welcome. I know AoW is not and never has been a Shrapnel product, but it'd be a shame to let them go to waste because we do have permission to use them.

And the forum is a Shrapnel product and it doesn't hurt to give people choices, no? The Dom3 community at least has a large number of people who played the original AoW and its sequel and who have migrated to Dominions.

I actually made all of the 100x100 ones around late 2006 for the stardestroyer.net forums and the hero portrait stuff in February this year.

So even if all of them don't make it, no matter. If some are considered good and accepted, I'll be happy.

David, would you modify this picture for me, please?

My current avatar is a downsized version of that, it's another one of the AoW pics. A 64x64 or 80x80 version with that frame would go very nicely and then I'd have a shrapnelified version, all shiny and official looking. I'm not sure which size would be better, so if you did both, I would very much appreciate it.

Shrapnel Games would need to have written documentation from the copyright holder to be able to host their images on our site. And it's really not of interest to us to seek permission to host images from other games. After all, our developers hired us to promote their games, no? While AoW is a great game enjoyed by users here and our developers alike, I just don't think it's a good idea . We really do need to respect copyright holders property and make sure our "official" catalogue only uses public domain or Shrapnel-owned images. I'd ask that we err on the safe side and not pursue this project as part of what we offer from our site.

And I haven't yet thanked you, David, for your great work here. We all are most appreciative of your contribution!
