Real time 3d graphics means the computer is doing the rendering as you play. As opposed to say SE4 shipsets where all the rendering is done ahead of time.
There is 0 reason they couldn't be used in a turn-based system; they already have been many times. The recent attempt to do an updated Version of X-COM uses the Quake 2 engine for example, and it runs pretty much the same as normal X-com. So does the excellent Silent Storm.

Re: Checked out Malfador\'s site yet??
I am not sure, but I think this will drastically change the way ships sets are made. I believe, and I could be wrong, that now you must have a wire frame model of your ship and a "skin" to go over it.
Look at BOTF and how they did it.
I hope this is not the case.

I don't think so Atrocities.
It's going to be the same as Star Fury.

Re: Checked out Malfador\'s site yet??
Cool,
But there was something that did keep me out of starfury : the feeling of driving a starship on the sea. It was 3d on a 2d world. Which feels strange. I would love to have true 3D, sort of simplified homeworld system map. Hell, Elite2 was doing it 15 years ago, so their must be a way to get it in SE5.

Re: Checked out Malfador\'s site yet??
So, is there actually a way to get on the list of BetaTesters? I mean, not that I'd hav a chance to, but I would sure love to see the limits/shortcomings of the politics engine... (of course, I'd love to test the whole game, but I am much less of an "optimizer of ships/planets/etc..." than others...)
Just wondering if there was a real chance to be a betatester, never having done anything like it before...
thanks,
Alarik
