Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
I guess I'll summon the King of Elemental Earth now.. Although to be perfectly honest I really dont see the value of him. I mean I have Tartarain spirits that are a lot better. Most of them have almost the same ammount of Earth magic and a lot more Hp's and more regen and the same item slots. It would seem about the only thing the Earth king has going for him is the fact that he's not insane and can summon allies. But as far as combat goes Ive got a lot better commanders as Arco is about to see. Try Tartarain spirits with 75 hp regen per turn on for size for one thing. makes the 13 hp regen of the earth king look pretty pathetic.
I'm pretty confused though... with all my Bane's equipped with Visions foe they are supposed to be targeting large enemy monsters but yet they all seem to be shooting and the stupid skinshifters and ignoring your tartarains and earth kings and such.. I just dont get that... Your Big units should have died quickly in the battle in Lower Timark but yet my Banes just dont seem to want to shoot at them..
It kinda didnt make sense that my Tarrasque's kept wanting to fire at your poison immune earth king instead of some of the more susceptible units too which was annoying

Yeah, the Earth King is not a bad bet. I'll summon him too, and we'll see who gets him. He's been a good commmander for me, I just sent him into the jaws of death.
And oh, I think skinshifters qualify as large enemy monsters. That might be your problem.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
Muhahaha and so the undead horde continues on its unstoppable march with total and utter doom for all who oppose them.
Or something like that...
Another pretty good turn at least. I'm now back up to the highest province count that I have had in this game at least and that doesn't appear likely to change in the near future.
It might be a good idea for the god of Vanhiem to go into hiding for a while too haha.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
Well, I knew I had hung Odus out there pretty vulnerable, but 12 VoTDs? Didn't see that coming. Got lucky though... he had not fought very much after all, and only had a few kills. Well, with 18 mr, he resisted 10 of the 12 spells. We'll see what 29 mr does now that he is in a lab.
Other than that, I felt like I had a pretty good turn too. Lost a castle, but there was no way to save it.
Oh, and we have a new member of the hall of fame, the One True God, Odus.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
I'd bet even with 29 MR I could still stick a VOTD or at least have a decent chance of it. Since almost all 12 of them are fully kitted with all the penetration gear. If only you could dual wield rune smashers eh? hehe.
How does it work.. my base roll of 10 + 5 penetration, then I'd need a random roll of 6 with a second 6 to get 27 and then my 3rd roll would have to beat whatever your random was +2.. Or at least its something like that... perhaps a bit of a long shot but still in the realm of possibility.
Either way though I'd have forced you to give up either +1 Air, Invulnerability, Luck, regen or your fire shield to bump up the MR. And without those he'd be less likely to survive the odd VOTD that did happen to stick.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
My pretender is a bit player. He's useful, yes, but I did not make him. The original player did. If he dies, meh. Basically just using him to push dom now. He's quite easy enough to summon back, if necessary.
This is probably the most amicable late game I have ever been in. We're basically fighting it out without resorting to the late game killer spells. I know we could, but it is fun to just fight it out as is. Good luck Psi. I do have some counters coming up.
Oh, and I guess you got the Tartarian chains, but I got Barathus. Not sure I like that trade, but so be it.

Don't worry, I'll just use the chains to enslave Barathus
Haha.. maybe not.. It's not like I'm gonna waste my time chasing him or anything, but who knows...

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
OK, my turn is in. Let's get this thing going, there are only three of us. I should know within the next three to four turns whether I am still viable, or if I just give the game to Psi.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
Dammit, if I had only scripted magic duel twice, the Dark Knight would be dead. As it is, now I am down a damn good S mage. My history of screw-ups has been added to.
Other than that, not too bad. Lost another castle, but I knew it was lost and got my guys out. The battle in Hemwood was very cool, just the thing I like about this game. Big, magic filled battles. And I won that one, which is a bonus, since you threw all those VotD at Rhuax, and he survived it. He was a bit player in the ensuing battle, but he was there at least.
Nice turn Psi. But not enough to make me give you the game.

Re: MA Newbie game - Faltering_Steps - Running
He was still inside friendly dominion so he wouldnt be "dead" That and he actually wouldnt have been dead even if you had scripted it twice. There is always a chance you could have lost that second time as well, although it was in your favor.
Really the best you could have hoped for would have been to make me loose the swords he's got woundflame and the Sickle. Which honestly they havent been helping me out too much to tell the truth, and they'd help you even less, at least against me. Wouldnt do much good to disease undead and the sickle cant get death gems from undead. It was kind of a bad idea for me to go and script wailing winds with Dark Knight seeing as how it makes everyone run before he can kill them to get more gems haha.
My Tart in Hemwood was supposed to cast Army of gold to shield the army from rain of stones but he didnt.. maybe I forgot to give him earth gems or something.
I'm actually preparing a new type of army you havent seen yet and actually Ive never tried in any game. I think it will be pretty cool but it will still be several turns before its ready since I have items to forge and body guards to summon so you cant pick them apart with Earth attack and such.
