Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Recruiting
May I suggest a slower research speed?

Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Recruiting
Great, we have 12 players now, which means we are closed to new recruits and are officially setting up the game! Hooray!
P3D, maybe we can use a slower speed, but what would be the advantages of that?
As for the map, we will be using Urraparrrand with Harbors, as per P3D's suggestion: http://dom3.servegame.com/wiki/Urraparrand_with_harbors
We will also use 150% money because of the map.

Wouldn't mind normal research myself. but if you want it slow we could try that. never have...
I've got a pretender waiting for this game to pop up on llamaserver...

Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Full - Setting up
I strongly suggest normal research, anything else will just be too confusing for new players. not to mention that most games are played with normal research, only a handful few use hard or even very hard research. also, what's the verdict on vanilla vs CBM(with or without EDM)?

Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Full - Setting up
I haven't tried the newest version of CBM, and it seems a bit drastic. But CBM does seem to be the most commonly used around here, not that it matters that much too me. Of course, Jomon gains a lot from CBM, so I guess I'm biased

slow research and crap probinces will be a good combination for some of the nations, leaving others far behind. For example Emor or Ryleh or my Utgard. I just think we should play at normal so it will be most fair

Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Full - Setting up
Some work came up last night that took up much of my time, but I'll be able to get the map balanced for a 12-player start position tonight after I get back from my appointments.
Criteria:
I: Each start must have four adjacent land provinces.
II: Each start must have at least 3 provinces between it and other starts (4 if possible, but this map will be slightly crowded).
III: I'll make sure none of the starts are next to all wasteland or swamp provinces, or something equally undesirable.

Re: Newbie game - Last Rites(LA) - Full - Setting up
sounds good. I kind of pity my neighbours if it is too crowded, my initial expansion seems painfully strong.
We will be looking at a monday/tuesday start then, I take it?
