Re: PBW still down, what have you been doing?
Mech Commander, the X-box game?
I don't like the simplistic damage model, or the infinite ammo stuff.
The Mechwarrior PC game is nice...
I managed to make quite a unique design in there that was a winner -
Take a light mech, About three steps above the smallest one. Pile on as much armor as it can hold, and fill the rest with 7 or more flamethrowers and lots of heatsinks.
In combat, you run up to the enemy assault mech, and flame him good as you go by. He overheats and shuts down no later than the second volley of flame.
One or two more hits (depending on how many heatsinks it has) and the mech will go critical. Begin a full running retreat just before you fire, and your armor is will be just enough to keep you together as the enemy makes a big glass crater in the desert. ![](http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif)

Re: PBW still down, what have you been doing?
PC MechCommander 2 has some good multiplayer gameplay if you are into the BattleTech universe. It also has a very powerful and intuitive editor: mission, campaign, and terrain.

Ooooo, MechCommander. I may have to dig that one out. Nothing like Player-vs.-PilotAI tactical combat.

Re: PBW still down, what have you been doing?
Cirvol,
Mark Kinkaid bought the rights to it, Fixed a lot of bugs and Made it easy to play across the internet.
Current play is very much like Empire Deluxe. For $30 it is well worth it. (in my opion). There is a demo you can download. There is no password protection, (one of the major issues with the 80s Version).
Mark is very active with the game and intends to develope a Version where you can create your own units. Take a look at the Development page.

Re: PBW still down, what have you been doing?
I just found this "Titans of Steel" game. Looks like an accurate clone of the old "Mech Warrior" game for the Amiga, from dozens of years ago. I'm about to buy it and give it a run. Looks super-cool!
