Re: TDM Modpack
My vote was for "All the time".
Quote:
Believe it or not TDM is a mod as well, just like P&N and others and not all people use it.

I don't view TDM as a mod, although technically it is. I see it as an AI patch for SE4. The fact that it doesn't conflict with what are commonly called mods, helps to make it stand apart.
Quote:
I am less familiar with P&N and Devnull mod but I suspect that Pseudo-Newtonian propulsion alone will make TDM AI to choke.

As the author of P&N, I have used TDM AIs in every game since I installed them.
It is true that the TDM AIs will not work with P&N straight from the zip. However, it is very easy to combine them.
On the P&N download page, there is a link to my "AI Patcher 2". Simply run the patcher, browse to the AI folder, and press the button.

Re: TDM Modpack
Skulky, simply click on the link " Downloads" in Suicide Junkie's signature:

The latest on Pirates & Nomads Mod: (forum thread) (Downloads).
-<Download my Chess Scenario>- (Includes a data mod)
-<etc.
-<etc.

This will take you to a new browser window... now click on the "P&N Downloads" link in the new browser window & voila! Well, almost voila, scroll down a bit
SJ, and unfortunately the file is not there! Atleast for me it insisted on giving me a "cannot open page" error. Checked it three times, so I imagine the file is missing.

Did you check the line about:
Quote:
Note: Some of these downloads are hosted on Shrapnelgames.com.
The remainder are hosted on a personal site, which is currently: /
|
I have so many files that I've left them on Imagemodserver, where I don't have to worry about space or bandwidth.
It is a windows server, so it does crash every now and then. Other times, I might need to monopolize the ISP connection, and it will be temporarily unavailable.
I think I'll go and add Red/Green/Yellow dots to all those links just to make their status clearer.
PS: sorry about the off topic tangent.

Re: TDM Modpack
I think TDM is the single most important Mod community contribution to SE4. It was and continues to be the single most eloquent addition to the game directly addressing the shortcomings in the AIs' behavior. It has provided a model for many modders and a base for other Mods. It should define The Standards for all. Great work guys.
That said, I still play other Mods and enjoy them just as much.

Re: TDM Modpack
Most of the games I've played on PBW have been standard, unmodded games. But, these games have had no AI's, and so there's been no apparent need for TDM (though I'm convinced TDM helps when the AI takes your turn for you...). So my vote should really be, 'All my games that have had AI's have used TDM.'
It bears repeating: great job to all who have worked on this mod!
