One thing I really hate is:
when you have explored a system and leave it you forgot all knowledge about enemy planets etc.

I think it will be better to "freeze" the Last seen situation.

1. An option to have all races use the same atmosphere. (What a scramble for planets that would make!)
2. Tactical combat in PBW.
3. Eliminate the need to build storage space on planets for resources (mineral, organic, radioactive and cargo). Any planet big enough to hold half a billion people should be able to store all the resources for an entire empire! IMO.
4. Conquered planets much more liable to revolt with a long timeframe to calm them down.
5. Salvage teams to recover ruin tech from otherwise inaccessible planets.
6. Zero movement for ships out of supplies. Supply conservation speed-- ship moves slower but uses less fuel per sector.
7. Temperature zone. Planet must be "X" distance from sun or it must be domed even if all other factors are perfect.

I must have a million more, but that's all I can think of now.

Hm, I like the way to handle the storage myself.
It can be devasting to destroy an other players main storage planet ...
I would miss that option.

Yes, that's a really good idea.
At least the starting planets and the planets with a hugh population should do so.

In case not everyone knows, some ways to (at least partially) do some of these things in the current game:

1. Create a fleet to get ships to share supplies.
2. Use the movement lines which show turns to destination, and take slightly longer courses (to en-route resupply depots, if available) to coordinate a specific arrival time.
5.6. Not sure exactly what you mean, but there are some sorting, searching, and filtering of displays that can be used to find things.
7. Go to your Settings.txt file and turn on the log file - it saves an account of game events to a text log file.

4. All system wide facilities show up on the map
5. the ability to sort reports with include and exclude included
6. the ability to search for stuff ( like which planet has my recycler on it )
7. History logs of turn events etc...
8. Expand the 4x game to include tatical
9. Open source SEIV to the community so we can really mod it and include all the things we want in it.(after you have made your required money off it)

Great, thanks !

This is what I would like to see:

Ok, the ship strategy settings are complex enough, but I would like to assign special target strategies, like: with a planet do damage just until all weapons gone, use only shield depleters on ships without weapons, then capture it, kill the rest. And for troop transports: stay away from the front line until the planet is ready to await your troops.

I think if we could tell a ship how to deal with every possible target, this would help the AI to better capture planets also.

Number #4 is for me the most important. I hate looking every planet in a system to see if there are a System Mineral Scanner already (For example)

This would be an excellent initiative. Why not open Space Empires's I,II and III source?

Also, I request for the next Version Space monsters (See the excellent ideas of Heman in this thread) and open-ended tech levels(Forun thread)

Isn't there something like that already in the colonies window, under the facilities button? It lists each type and quantity of facility for each planet; sort them by name and it isn't that hard to figure out if a system has facility x in it...

My workaround for this is, rename the planet like Sol III [FS] for FATE SHRINE and Empire Settings- Display Planet Names. All you have to make sure is that the name does not get too long for the build queue.

"rename the planet like Sol III [FS] for FATE SHRINE and Empire Settings- Display Planet Names."

Doing that in multiplayer would be bad for your planet's health..
