Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
If anybody is up for a new game count me in,
especialy for a EA game.
And i think its better to PBEM game, but I don't really care.
I would organise a game if I had the time but i don't ,
so really if someone wants to start a new game DO count me in!

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
Okay, I am thinking of organizing a game now, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it (I think the offers to host are very cool btw ). This would be the first game I've MP organized or started from the beginning so I'm wondering what are the best settings for a newbie game. Is there any sort of commonly accepted standard that most people use? The Worthy Heros mod seems popular, and the modified Paraganos map that llamabeast uses looks pretty good.
I am guessing it might be to set all the options to default (although, I do like the option to rename units for some reason...), and maybe have 6-8 players. I'd like to have a quick fun game with only a moderate time commitment and I understand having a huge number of players, like 20 would probably slow the game down.

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
Why don't you do something like Argitoth did in his Funhouse game. Supplies, Research, and money were set to max, as well as lvl 9 Indies. The game has been a blast, with totally unforseen outcomes. EA Agartha, for instance, which is usually an easy conquer, has blown ahead to take the game lead.

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
I agree about research and supplies but i'm not so sure about the money, I think it may be more interesting to leave Indies on 9 but lower the money, so the strong nations like agarta wouldn't have a head start, I mean it's really tough stopping
a huge army of troglodytes!

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
@ moderation
I would like to join in. (This will be my first MP)
I suggest we stick to the standard settings (renaming ok). No Mods, lets keep that for the next one :-). A smaller map would probably help to keep the time commitment resonable.
When you have decided the setting, I think we should ask llamabeast politely to create the game on his server and then we would start a new thread with the game name and the settings to organize the game (Or change the headline of this thread accordingly if it is possible).
Regards and Thanks for organizing
(I will try to assist if possible, although I have got zero experience :-)

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
Yep, the general system is just to start a thread explaining what the game settings will be, and asking for people to join. Newbie games seem insanely popular at the moment, I guess we have lots of new people around.
My own suggestion would be to keep money, resources and supplies at 100%, turn renaming on and put hall of fame to 15 (merely because it's fun). I think going for 300% money etc might well be fun in it's own way, but I reckon as a newbie game it makes more sense to get used to the vanilla game rather than a somewhat bizarre variant of it (not necessarily bizarre in a bad way, but man, with that much gold the pacing must be nuts!).
I have been using my modified Parganos map a lot - I think it's good for 8 players. However, if you fancy a change (I am worried I will bore everyone to death with it) there are loads of good maps on dom3maps.wikidot.com .

Well if this game gets up and running I would be keen to join. Currently in my first MP game and another would help with the long wait between turns.

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
I'm not a big fan of raising money and resources above what they are regularly. I like the way the game has been balanced on the default, plus I'm new so it would be best like llama said to get used to the regular rules. If you guys need another player I'm down, and I vote we go Early Age. I like it.

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
I don't mind age, but it seems we have 5 players already. I would suggest someone ask llamabeast if he would mind setting up a new 8 player game? with the 5 of us listed.

Re: Anyone want to play a quick newbie game?
8 would be cool I mean, if you're gonna play a multiplayer game you should make it a nice sized one. That's my opinion anyway.
