Maybe make the parry scale with the rank of the monk using it?
So lower level monks might have a small-medium chance to deflect the arrows, and your high ranking assassins could be practically immune to arrows.

Burnsaber: Yes, I did exacly the same lines. 2 hits out of 3 arrows falling into his square (after haveing an unspecificed impression that it does not work with Def 4). One of us definitly had an extra unlikely event. Let's test again.

assassins are no monks though in DnD.. they don't get deflect arrows right?

Anyway for the sake of balance : just give ONE of the troops the deflect missile thingie, so if you face a archer heavy player you are not completely with you back against the wall.. (btu the race I MP with now, midgard doesn't have anything and that is good.. a race should have weaknesses)

I use this and my soldiers get hit by arrows maybe once in the entire battle.
