It would be nice if there were something along the lines of some user-defined meta-scripts so you only have to script one time for each of the mages you want casting that particular group of spells, and they would cast first Body Etherial, then Ironskin, then Personal Luck, then Regeneration, then Resist Poison, for instance.

<Ctrl-N>/<N> shortcuts is almost that - consider that <Ctrl-N> saves meta-script and <N> loads it. They are not persistent between the games, but that's not a big problem. The main problems comes from positioning and squad [of regular units] forming.
