Re: Is there a battlefield map mod for Dom III?
Actually, to be more specific, when I do open the map file with either MS Word or NotePad, or I see is garbled, indecipherable language.

Re: Is there a battlefield map mod for Dom III?
That's strange. The .map file should be just plain text file, which can be opened in all possible text editors (although I find that Notepad might show newlines as boxes, and use Wordpad in those cases).

Re: Is there a battlefield map mod for Dom III?
Its text but its unix text (linux is the home system of Dom).
So notepad makes it look line one long line of text with boxes instead of carriage returns. Wordpad is easier but be sure to save it back as text.

To edit plain text file, you need plain text editor. Curiously enough neither MS Word nor notepad are that My preferred plain text editor (and more) on Windows is Crimson Editor.

What are the typical plain text editors that come with Windows?

Wordpad is ok, unless you have to deal with Unicode.

Re: Is there a battlefield map mod for Dom III?
There is an easier way to test units against each other in any battle replay, but I don't remember the key shortcuts that kill all units on the field and the others that pop new ones in there that will then fight it out. It works as kind of battle simulator.
