Re: Map Editor cometh ;).
Lion of High Park,
I created a mod and placed in the mod forum a new quadrantTypes and Systemtype file to allow you to created maps with a system that looks somewhat like Sol. The sizes may be off a bit and there are a lot of planets in it (2 huge, 2 large, 2 med, 6 small, 13 tiny , 1 asteroid) There is a double tiny planet system on the edge of the system and a couple of atomsphere moons.
SEIV may place an additonal planet in the system when it starts if it thinks it needs a new starting planet however.
I also included a delta file with the 2 changes if someone just wants to add it to thier files.
I attached a save game to give you a example of what it could look like. Go to Bandersnatch and look at that system

Re: Map Editor cometh ;).
A map editor will be very usefull. Just want to ask though, will we be able to add ringworlds/sphereworlds will this editor?? That and select starting points(systems) for the races, or even starting planets?? (ie start the AI out with a ringworld for a challenge??).

WARNING!! Ungrateful-sounding comment follows.
A Map Editor will be good. But a SaveGameFile Editor would be MUCH better. (Unless this Map Editor is misnamed, and actually lets you set up everything, entire scenarios -- ships, resources, tech levels, etc.)

Re: Map Editor cometh ;).
What does the map editor allow you to do?
(A) Does it allow you to plot out galaxy maps, Groups of star locations and the warp points linking them?
(b)does it allow you to create individual system maps and assign them to these positions?
(C) Does it let you have empty star positions for the computer to fill in as it sees fit with random systems?

(D) Does it bake you cookies and serve them while they are still hot and gooey?
(E) Does it spontaniously create its own B2B e-commerce web site to make you money while you play Online with your custom map?
(F) Does it wash your dishes and iron your clothes while you are buisy conquering the galaxy?
wow man, why do you have to be all harsh and sarcastic like that? show some gratitiude here..
(sorry WindBorne, I couldn't resist. sometimes I think Im funnier than I actually am)

Re: Map Editor cometh ;).
I hope I'm not giving it all away, but you can place systems, stars, planets (including sw's and rw's)

Re: Map Editor cometh ;).
Actually, one feature I'd like to have on a map editor would be the ability to designate homeworlds for various races on the map and such. Hopefully, this will be in the map editor.
