Could be sub-optimal, but I don't think you can get any more thematic than Abysia + Moloch

I am brand new, (n00b) to this game. Just got the title yesterday and spent 5 hours playing it straight. Anyway, if there are any slots open, I would like to play.

Great! But just tell us which nation you would like to play (as mentioned above Caelum, Mictlan, Pangaea and Abysia are already taken). We're closing in our 8 players pretty quickly, so I'm hoping we can all upload our pretenders and start the game by tomorrow. I'd suggest you use whatever time you have to try out a Pretender setup for the nation you're trying out.
In the opening in game it's mostly about taking the independent provinces (or indies), as quickly as possible, and that's one thing you can practice in SP that carries over perfectly well to MP. You should probably try a game using the same setup we're going to use in the game, as describe in my initial post, and most importantly use the same indy strength (8). IMO, you get the most bang for the buck by testing a given pretender setup for the first 10-15 turns.

How big is the download for the Karan map? I'm tempted to join this one too but I wonder if I'll have the time to download the map and think up a new pretender.

The map is a 3.4mb download, and I got it off Arryn's site:
http://www.dominions-2.org
Be sure to get Targa's corrections, as well, which are also on Arryn's site.

You know me by now, Lepakko - I'm happy to make this a ladder game, if no one objects. I'll do the post on Battlefield pointing at this thread tomorrow.
For those that don't know what Lepakko is talking about, Battlefield.com maintains a section devoted to Dominions2, including maintaining a ladder for players competing in Dom2. Theoretically this means all players in this game should be registered on the Battlefield site, but I don't think that's particularly urgent.
Here's some links for the Battlefield site:
The Battlefield is at:
http://www.the-battlefield.com
Battlefield Dom2 Page:
http://www.the-battlefield.com/index...main&game=dom2
Battlefield Dom2 Forum:
http://www.the-battlefield.com/forum...p?showforum=27
Here's our current player list:
Caelum - Boron
Mictlan - YellowCactus
Pangaea - Aku
Abysia - Thufir
Arco- PrinceMegaherz
??? - Galadin
??? - Lepakko
Assuming both Galadin and Lepakko are in, that leaves us with 7 players, which will be enough to start with. I'll PM Sheap tomorrow (Friday), and hopefully we can get this game started by tomorrow night.

Re: MP Game - Casual Carnage (noob/int game) - ope
I'm about to get the snot wiped from my *** in what was my first MP, so I guess its safe to now start a new MP. If you don't mind having 8 players in this game?
To make things right, I think I need to play Vanheim again in a comparable setting like this, just to make up for the blunders I've made in said earlier game (Note To The Wise: Don't play Midguard unless you know what you're doing! Which I don't, so I'll be playing Standard theme.. and might try the Moloch, but gotta run now and play "WinXP Fixit Man" for my GF... I'll upload a pretender by tonight (its 6:30am right now..).
