Re: Skins for dom 2
After I figured out which files represent the "background" files I immideatly changed the "text windows" into a white variation of themselves, and now its so comfortable =P
Photoshop is so nice to have around =P
Your themes are obviously cool, but I dislike the change to the "background", I like that wooden table =P

They all look terrific Ben. Have you considered reskinning a few other portions or are they to muddled to do exactly how you'd like?

What did you have in mind? Most everything else in the game has to be modified as a mod file, but that's not too hard to do.
One thing I would like to do, sometime, is modify some of the unit sprites to make them easier to tell apart. Some nations have different units that use virtually the same sprites... Pangaea and Ulm, for example. I'd like to be able to tell at a glance which units are regular Pikeneers and which ones are Black Plate Pikeneers. It wouldn't be a drastic change--I like the existing unit graphics, they just need some obvious cues to let you discern which is which. More obvious than the current cues, at least, which are mostly along the lines of "the two pixels that make up the unit's gloves are two shades darker."
I'd also like to figure out a way to get rid of the beveled drop shad-ow that surrounds each commander in the commander list, and each option in the menus on the right-hand side of the main screen. They just seem unnecessary. But I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Looks nice.
Does it affect the screen "behind" the maps?
I keep thinking that someone should do a Version of that with a keypress chart around the rim so that it shows in the map view when you scroll to the edge.
|
Has anyone jumped on this? How about a combination between the keypress chart and a background screen for maps? It would be a great addition to a combination mod and map and help files and background screens for newbie tutorial zip-file

Ben,
Something Oriental flavored. Perhaps an oriental dragon as the surrounding selection boxes. As a background, perhaps something sutiably japanese. Perhaps Kitsune has some good ideas for resources.
