More seriously, if I changed it to Rich, I'd have to expect / encourage a lot of people to want to change their Pretenders.

A normal richness on the Cradle does mean a little bit resource poor setting, which presumably people took into account when creating their pretenders.

And in retrospect, as Arch sideways suggested, I should have made Caelum an AI controlled nation - too big an advantage on the map.

Maybe. But perhaps people who haven't played this map before aren't aware of the starvational nature of this map. After all, you remember how it was the times *WE* played this map...

Maybe you should have Banned Ermor, too. The fact that everyone will be sort of starving for resources won't affect Ermor, since they have zero population.

Alternatively, you can just accept that certain maps promote certain flavors.

After all, wasn't the entire point of this to have a good, clean game, with no wonky house rules?

Ah, but this wouldn't have been House Rules.

This would have been telling the server that Caelum was Impossible Difficulty AI controlled. There's a difference.

If there are no objections, and djtool claims his T'ien C'hi on mosehansen, I'll kick anonymous players tomorrow morning, and start the game off around 11 or noon Eastern time.

Worst case, I'll kick anonymous in the morning, and start on Friday morning / noonish after he's had a chance to reload his pretender.
